Farooki- Shaon’s squabble over Doob continues

Mustafa Sarwar Farooki counter-charged and said that she has no authority whatsoever to object against the movie. “Yes, I did submit a letter to the board. But I did not write anything about banning the movie. I am no one to put a ban on the movie. What I wrote is just a few facts about the movie that offend me,” Shaon clarified. She added, “It is unequivocally stated in my letter that if any part of this movie reflects upon either Humayun Ahmed or his family, the board should take action against it. Because neither the director nor the producer of the movie cared to take permission from the author’s family. What I heard about the content of the movie is obnoxious and may befuddle others. So, I appealed for lawful action against the movie.” Farooki, on the other hand, has discarded the allegation against the movie. He stated, “Who is she to object against Doob? Did we make the movie from her or somebody else’s original literature? This script is completely unique and narrates the story of a person named Zaved Hasan. Where did she get the authority to write a letter against the movie? I don’t know whether her letter actually carries any value.” The Piprabidya director seemed to have lost his cool by this point. The movie was filmed towards the end of 2016 and controversy regarding it has followed ever since rumours started making rounds about the story of the movie being centred around the life of late author Humayun Ahmed. Shaon immediately responded to the hearsay. Doob features prominent Bollywood actor Irfan Khan, Parno Mitra from Kolkata, Nusrat Imroz Tisha and Rokeya Prachi from Dhaka. The movie is an Indo-Bangla venture where Jaaz Multimedia represents Dhaka and Eskay Movies represents Kolkata. The Life of Pi famed actor Irfan Khan also holds the position of associate producer of the movie.
