George and Amal Clooney welcome Yazidi Refugee

George and Amal Clooney, who are known for their humanitarian feats and their passion to help out refugees, have put out their house Augusta, Kentucky to a 23 year old Yazidi refugee, Hazim  Avdal from Iraq, states Mail Online. The couple along with George’s parents are talking about their decision for the first time on David Letterman's Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. Through the Skype interview, Amal Clooney, a prominent human right lawyers,  talked about his first encounter with Avdal, "I've had the privilege of representing a number of Yazidis who have been the victims of genocide perpetrated by ISIS over the past couple of years, that's how I met Hazim” Amal was awe struck by the will power and stellar heart of the young refugee, “I remember being so struck by his courage but also just his amazing spirit and how he spoke about, even after everything he lost, he spoke about his desire for justice, not revenge," Avdal expressed to the Clooney’s about his future endeavors, "He spoke about his dream about one day studying in the U.S. and I knew we all had the same thought, which was, 'Well, maybe there's something we can do to help with that.'". Avdal, now a student at the University of Chicago had a tumultuous life in Iraq. In an earlier interview to The Hollywood Reporters in September, George Clooney said that, "He was on this bus to Mosul, and ISIS shot the two bus drivers and said, 'Anybody who wants to go to college, we will shoot them,'" but thankfully, Avdal was finally able to have a happy ending, "He survived and came to America. He got through all the checks, and once he got through those, it was like, 'Listen, we got your back. You want to get an education? You want to move your life forward? This is something that we can do,'" Clooney added. The Clooney’s who are known for their charitable accomplishments pledged $20 million to their own Clooney Foundation for Justice to benefit refugee housing and education and also created a "trial watch" to provide legal protections.
