On the occasion of the celebration of fourth year of Awami League government, Ministry of Cultural Affairs has organised an open air concert at Dhaka's Army Stadium.
The mega event titled “4 years of Development and Success” will take place on January 12, confirmed the ministry.
Four leading bands, including Souls, Nagar Baul, Dalcchut and Chirkutt will perform in the concert. Folk queen Momtaz, along with a number of solo artists from Shilpakala Academy, will also perform on the occasion.
Much to the delight of the local music fans, the mega concert has been kept open for the mass. However, a prior registration is required to get access to the event. Audience can register at http://www.fourthyearcelebration.com/ to get a pass for the event.
Soul's frontman Partha Barua, who is set to perform in the very first mega concert of the new year, has expressed his excitement for the event.
“There are a lot of concerts that are being organised throughout the country. None of us are just sitting idly. We are performing regularly, but this is undeniable that big arrangements are becoming scarce especially in Dhaka,” Partha said.
The singer added: “We are taking part in such a grand arrangement at Army Stadium after a long time. I am really impressed with the government's arrangement.”
Partha said more grand musical concerts like this should frequently be arranged by both governmental and private organisers.
According to a press release from the ministry, the concert will kick off at 4pm and will continue till midnight. Dr Nuzhat Chowhdury and Tania Hossain will host the concert.
Private television channel Desh TV will broadcast the concert live. The TV broadcast of the concert will be produced by Alamagir Hossain.
