DJ Snake visits Bangladesh to raise awareness for the Rohingya

French DJ and record producer William Sami Etienne Grigahcine, commonly known as DJ Snake, is currently visiting Bangladesh on a short trip. In an effort to raise funds and awareness among the global netizens, the “Turn Down for What” creator has made a trip to Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar. More than 6,20,000 Rohingya people were forced to seek shelter in Bangladesh, after a military crackdown ensued in Myanmar’s Rakhine state on August 25. Love Army, an activist network, is also accompanying the Grammy-nominated producer in the brief visit to Bangladesh. After shedding a light on the misery and hardship of the stateless minorities in a Twitter video message on Tuesday, Snake asked people to side with them and called for donations. The 31-year-old termed it as a “human to human” aid.“They've been kicked out of their home, Burma [Myanmar's previous name], and they are living a horrible life. We've come with the Love Army to meet them, to talk to them, and to understand their needs. If we all work together, we can change their lives,” he said in a video message.Others celebrities, including Nath Campos Omar Sy, Mister V, Seb la Frite, Jhon Rachid and Le Grand JD were also seen accompanying DJ Snake and campaigning for the Rohingya alongside. The team, led by Jérôme Jarre, the founder of Love Army who was involved in a project for famine in Somalia, also chalked out a livestream among the Rohingya refugees in their camp, speaking to the children about their experiences to raise money in an all-day event, on Tuesday. However, due to the sluggish internet, they went for a short video instead, and asked people to donate whatever they can. To bring the netizen’s attention to the 620,000 plus Rohingya refugees, the team has also requested everyone to share the message and tag anyone with a voice, who may be able to make a donation to the cause.
