Linkin Park honours Chester Bennington with heartfelt tribute concert

Linkin Park took the stage together for the first time since Chester Bennington‘s untimely death, to pay a special tribute to their frontman and lead vocalist. The concert took place at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday evening, seeing the remaining members of Linkin Park joined by a number of artists to honour the singer. The stage was also shared by Blink-182, Machine Gun Kelly, Jonathan Davis from Korn, Kiiara, Zedd, members of No Doubt, System of a Down, Yellowcard, Avenged Sevenfold and many others. Even though tickets for the concert sold out, the concert was streamed live exclusively on YouTube via Linkin Park’s official channel on October 27, so that fans from all around the world could join. The live-streamed concert has been viewed by more than 1.5 million viewers from all over the world within just 24 hours, currently trending at number 2 on YouTube. The band has decided to donate the revenues from the concert to Music For Relief’s One More Light Fund. Founded in 2004 in response to the Indian Ocean tsunami, Linkin Park began the charity which raised over $9 million for the survivors of multiple disasters across four continents. The One More Light Fund was established in the memory of Chester Bennington, to help rebuild communities destroyed by fires in northern California. Bennington’s long-time band mate Mike Shinoda conveyed his message on twitter following the tribute concert. He wrote: “There are not words. Thank you all so much for tonight. #MakeChesterProud #CelebrateLife” Furthermore, the band also shined a light on mental health. During the Youtube livestream, the band posted a link to the One More Light Fund. The message read: "Give to the One More Light Fund to bring light to the world and shine a light on mental health." The One More Light Fund is set up in memory of Bennington. They also setup a web page for donations with Music for Relief. "Celebrating Chester and his passion for helping others," the page says. "The fund will support Chester's favourite Music for Relief program: Solar Suitcases - solar electricity kits - for remote health clinics without electricity." The message continues, "The fund will also shine a light on mental health; helping individuals and families coping with mental and emotional struggles." Since Bennigton’s departure, the band has been posting and sharing pictures and videos of the singer on their personal and official social media sites. Prior to the show on Friday, the band had posted a video of Bennington singing "Believe It or Not" in 2010 from their LPTV series. Chester Bennington, who was 41, passed away on July 21 of this year. The cause of his death was revealed to be suicide.
