Bangladeshi Fate's Tale wins title in USA

Young Bangladeshi director Sadia Afrin's short film “Fate's Tale- Gohiner Jolchap” bagged the Best Short film Award in International Film Festival Manhattan-2017. The 14-minute-long film was announced for the accolade on October 18 at the kick off and prize giving ceremony held in the Philippine Center of New york, USA. Khandakar Sharmin, who penned the story of the film, has received the award on behalf of the “Fate's Tale” team. The film was also premiered in the festival a day after the announcement. Sadia's film won the race competing with films submitted from 15 countries around the world including Philippine, South Korea, Canada and France. The festival took place yesterday. Made under the banner of Bengal Studio Ink, Kamal Chandra Das captured Gohin Baluchor penned by Khandakar Sharmin. Amzad Hossain worked as the executive producer of the film, which featurs Joha Shoshi and Jibon Roy in the lead roles. Kanak Aditya and Shubho directed the background score. The only song in the film was voiced by Closeup1 famed singer Salma Akter. Khandakar Sharmin wrote the lyrics of the track, which was later composed by Durjoy Ferdous. “I am truly delighted that Fate's Tale, the unconditional bucolic love story of Bangladesh, has won the title. Thanks to the whole team for making it happen,” Sadia said Showtime. “I have no plan of entering the commercial industry immediately as I am still learning and looking forward to learn more. But when the time's right, I will surely give it a try,” she said.
