Stephen Frears’ biographical comedy-drama film Victoria & Abdul hits Star Cinplex today.
Written by Lee Hall, the film was released for general audiences in the United Kingdom on September 15, 2017, followed by its US release on September 22.
Judi Dench and Ali Fazal play the lead roles in the film.

Victoria and Abdul also features Michael Gambon, Eddie Izzard, Tim Pigott-Smith and Adeel Akhtar. The film managed to pull in over $20 million after its world premiere at the 74th Venice Film Festival.
The amorous tale of Victoria and Abdul has been deemed controversial and scandalous by her family members and upon the monarch’s death in 1901, they scrubbed Abdul’s existence from royal history.
A journalist named Shrabani Basu paid a visit to Victoria’s summer home in 2003 and honed in on the royal family secrets, which were safely buried for 100 years.
However, after it’s release, Victoria and Abdul received mixed reviews, including a 6.8 rating on IMDB and an average rating of 6.2/10 on Rotten Tomatoes.
