Khacha starring Jaya Ahsan is rumored to be sent to the 90th Academy Awards,Oscars for the Foreign Language Film category. Though there isn’t any official statements yet, but many sources indicate it will be submitted.
Bangladesh’s Oscar preview committee’s member Abdul Latif Bachchu told Tribune on Wednesday (September 27) that he only saw two or three films and it seemed to him that
Khacha is leading the race, and it fulfills the requirements for the Academy Awards.
The film’s director Akram Khan said that he had also heard the same rumors. And also added that he will feel great if his film is sent to the Oscars but he is waiting for the official results, which was supposed to be declared on September 27.
On the other hand,social media is buzzing on the rumor that
Khacha will run for the Oscars. The film was released on September 22. The film’s production company Impress Telefilms declared that only two days before the release. Many people speculated on social media that they hurried the release for the Oscars.

Based on author Hasan Azizul Haque’s short story
Khacha, the screenplay for the film was co-written by actor Azad Abul Kalam and the film’s director Akram Khan. The film was shot on locations like Narail, Dohar and Natore.
Khacha stars Mamunur Rashid, Azad Abul Kalam, Chadni, Shahed Ali and others. The film’s storyline is based on the British colonial period.
Bangladesh Federation of Film Society formed a nine-member committee chaired by film personality Habibur Rahman Khan, to select a film to represent Bangladesh at the Oscars.
