A Dinajpur Medical College student died after slipping into quicksand in Jamuna River in Bogra on Saturday, police said.
Md Mosabbir Hossain alias Fine, 22, a second-year student, had gone for a boat ride on the river in the morning.
He got swallowed by the quicksand as he stepped into the shallow end of the river near the Prem Jamuna Ghat under Sariakandi upazila.
Mosabbir was pulled up from the quicksand soon after by locals and rushed to Upazila Health Complex. But doctors declared him dead on arrival, said Sariakandi police OC Mizanur Rahman.
The youth's body was handed over to the family members later and an unnatural death case was filed in this regard, he said.
