Two Rohingya children were shot and injured in the firing between two separatist groups in the Rohingya camp of Ukhiya upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident took place in West A block of Rohingya camp no 8.
The injured two children, Umme Hafsa, 11 and Abul Foyej, 8, were shot and injured when two separatist groups suddenly engaged in a clash and started shooting at each other, said Ukhiya police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali.
They were rushed to Ukhiya MSF Hospital where they were given first aid. Later, they were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment, the OC said.
“Two new groups have become active to take control of the camp. They were the ones involved in the shooting on Wednesday. On receiving the information, multiple teams of APBn police and Ukhiya police station rushed to the spot so the terrorists fled,” he said.
“The situation is under control now. APBn police patrolling has been intensified in the area and operations are underway to nab the terrorists,” he added.
