Rohingyas form human chains and rally at camps demanding justice and repatriation

The Rohingyas have held a peaceful human chain and rally to demand justice for the brutal genocide in Myanmar in 2017 alongside their dignified repatriation with full civil rights.

Rohingya leaders said that this human chain and rally were conducted simultaneously in 20 camps of Ukhiya-Teknaf from 10:30am to 11:30 on Thursday.

Rohingya leaders of camp and block-based communities spoke about various demands in the ongoing human chain under the theme “Go Back Home”.

The demand of the Rohingyas in one sentence remains: “We want justice”.

It was not supposed to be a rally hundreds of Rohingyas were to form a human chain. But their assembling together triggered their demand for a fair trial for the murder, rape and oppression that happened to them in 2017.

They wished to be repatriated with full dignity while thanking the Bangladesh government for providing them with safe shelter.

Human chains were formed in 20 camps including Kutupalong, Balukhali, Palong Khali, Thaingkhali Tajnimakhola in Ukhia.

On August 25, 2017, the Rohingyas organized a rally and human chain on Thursday to mark five years since they left their country due to torture and genocide in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

Earlier, the first major rally was held in the camp on August 25, 2019, led by Master Muhibullah. Later he was killed by native assassins.

Community leaders mobilized the Rohingyas this time as no one lead it.
