Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital are making frantic efforts to save the lives of people injured in Tuesday afternoon's explosion at a seven-storey building in Gulistan.
Rescue ambulances were rushing to the hospital one after another in the evening, and the emergency unit was overcrowded with onlookers. Fear was apparent in everyone's eyes and faces, with the death toll of 15 likely to increase.
Additional forces were deployed at DMCH to ensure that the treatment of the injured was not hampered due to the crowd.
DMCH Director Brig Gen Md Nazmul Haque said around 120 had sustained injuries in the explosion.
Rescue efforts were still underway and injured people were being rushed to DMCH, he added.
