Examinations play vital roles in the life of students. It is through examinations that students get to find opportunities for career growth. Examinations are a cyclical process -- in our student life we pass through a curriculum. After finishing our curriculum, students appear in examinations. Exams are not only important in the life of students, they are also important in our professional and corporate life.
There are some who develop phobias about examinations. This sounds quite strange and almost macabre to some extent. That is why good teachers and counseling psychologists around the globe always advise students to be more methodical and planned in their approaches.
In countries in the South Asian subcontinent, like India and Bangladesh, examinations are of paramount importance. There are many government officials in both nations, who write in various dailies regarding this vital burning issue. In reality, we find disjointed views about examinations.
Though examinations are rated as one of the most vital wings in our academic life, the entire procedures, along with understanding of said procedures, should be streamlined properly. The role of examinations should be streamlined in such a manner that trauma among students is minimized.
It is through examinations that students of modern age find new ways and means to develop their careers across all branches of academic and professional disciplines in life. The world is very tough and competitive, hence students are in a firm bid for their futures.
• Exams are more than just the final grade. They also help to:
• Motivate students to accelerate the pace of learning processes;
• Motivate students to broaden their mental horizon to understand the world better and at a deeper level;
• Help build up self-confidence and self discipline in life;
• Develop time management skills that translate to professional life
• Instill the value of hard work
• Lastly, they are the platform on which to build their careers and develop a sense of expertise
Touching upon the trend of examinations in the life of students in India and Bangladesh seems to be a mixed one. In both nations, it is found that students welcome examinations. Of course, there are many students who develop a less than desirable attitude towards examinations, but this appears to be little more than a lackadaisical attitude about examinations on their part. It is quite surprising to note this kind of attitude -- the students who are dedicated to examinations are richly benefited in life.
There are many students in India and Bangladesh who are enthusiastic to take part in competitive examinations. Notable among them, medical fraternities, civil servants, and various other professionals who are truly dedicated in their academia and their respective professional examinations.
Summing up my views, one point will always remain embedded in my mind, that examinations cannot be ignored at all. If any student of India and Bangladesh wishes to prosper in social, academic, and financial life, they should attach due importance to examinations. This should be an eye-opener for students -- otherwise, success in life might be a distant reality for them.
