In a long list of benefits that have resulted from our close ties, China has relaxed its visa policies for Bangladeshis with the view of making them more applicant-friendly. Applicants will no longer be required Covid-19 tests when going to China. The need for leaving fingerprints has also been lifted as well, which will last until the end of this year.
We must commend the authorities for being able to come together and eliminate such hassles . One of our biggest weaknesses has always been the subpar amenities offered by the Bangladeshi passport. With our current trajectory, it seems like it is only a matter of time before this will be solved.
The deep relationship between the Bangladeshi and the Chinese has gone to new heights in recent years. From collaboration on development objectives to China having Bangladesh’s back on a number of international matters, the bond we share only grows stronger with each passing year. Furthermore, given our geopolitical position and China’s global influence, having friends like China is a policy that is paying dividends for Bangladesh.
This is, in no doubt, due to the unparalleled strategies adopted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recent years. From strengthening existing friendships with countries such as China and India and establishing entirely new ones, the authorities have done a fine job.
There is still much room for improvement, and having China support Bangladesh with the current Rohingya refugee situation would be a tremendous boon where China is yet to truly make its mark.
But as things stand, we continue to strengthen our ties and are in good standing with not just China but also much of the rest of the world. And if the authorities continue to implement the strategy of establishing and strengthening our ties, these are relationships that will only deepen as we go.
Bangladesh's economic ambitions will not be realized without adequate support from other nations, and it is good to see we have realized this and are constantly working to be an ally and partner to all nations of the world while simultaneously getting closer to our goals.
