As a yet-developing nation, Bangladesh's future rests on the shoulders of its educated youth. While our country's own education system has some ways to go to fulfill the needs of our brightest minds, that's where the Prime Minister's Fellowship steps in.
With as many as 48 scholars from a variety of fields having been granted the Prime Minister's Fellowship 2023-24 to pursue higher studies in some of the most reputed universities in the world, to say that our nation's future is bright would be an understatement.
Introduced back in 2018, the Prime Minister's Fellowship was established with the intent of allowing our brightest minds to be able to study in some of the most reputed higher education establishments in nations such as the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada, and has since resulted in more than 200 Master's fellows and close to 100 PhD fellows having their dreams fulfilled.
Unfortunately, pursuing higher studies abroad can often become a maddening prospect that becomes less about merit and more about financial solidity, which often enough filters out some of the brightest, most eligible young minds in our country from being counted. An initiative like the Prime Minister's Fellowship, then, is not only appreciated for what it brings to the table but is absolutely crucial for empowering our scholars with the knowledge and academic training necessary for them to take our country to the future.
This is an excellent initiative that we hope the government will grow over the years.
Congratulations to this year's fellows.
