Education for all

It is well established by now that a good education forms a solid base for a child, and really, a nation to prosper. While our education system has received criticism in the past, it is encouraging to see our government take necessary measures to bring the system up to par.

To that end, the government's decision to establish 1,000 primary schools in 20 char areas across the country comes as good news. The initiative, work for which is already underway, will prove to be an important milestone on our path to complete educational reform.

The education ministry has implemented a number of drastic changes over the last few months to upgrade the standard of education we provide, which is no doubt a laudable feat. However, it must also be on top of our priority list to ensure that not only high quality education is provided, but also that all children receive it -- regardless of geographical or financial limitations.

A lack of primary education institutions in many localities has historically made getting an education inaccessible to too many children, which is a disservice not only to them, but to our country as a whole.

The authorities would do well to continue in line with this initiative, and continue building more schools to ensure no child is left behind. It is also crucial to make education -- especially primary education -- affordable for the general public.

We mustn't forget: Education is a basic right for every human being, and it is our duty to provide it to all.

With this project, we hope more such initiatives will be designed to guarantee that our education system undergoes the reform it requires, and reaches all the children who will be responsible for the future of our nation.
