Agriculture has been a defining aspect of Bangladesh's economy since the very beginning, and the return of a collective focus to the sector on our government's part is certainly fitting.
The government has been initiating a number of timely measures to upgrade our agricultural practices, and to make farming more convenient and favourable -- for those involved in the industry, as well as the country as a whole.
One of those initiatives has been to encourage mechanized farming, which introduces modern tools and machines to speed up the farming process and boost productivity.
The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) campaign to promote the use of advanced technology in farming can prove to be just the boost the sector needs.
Modernizing our farming approach is not only a faster and smarter option -- in line with our goals of building a Smart Bangladesh -- but is also cost-effective.
A number of farmers across the country have already begun exploring mechanized farming, which has significantly cut costs of cultivation -- with a reduced need for labour and seeds.
Considering the results this initiative is already yielding, it is safe to assume, as per expert opinions, that the establishment of mechanized farming across the board will boost food production and increase profits considerably for our nation.
This is undoubtedly the kind of forward-thinking measure that Bangladesh is in need of at this stage of its development. Employing advanced tools to make full use of the resources available to us in the most efficient manner is, ultimately, what will propel our country forward in coming years.
We have relied on traditional farming methods for far too long, which has invariably led to our agriculture sector failing to reach its true potential. In order to keep up with modern times, it is crucial that we embrace the upgraded methods available, and elevate the sector to a level that it has the capacity for.
