A solution to the energy crisis

Renewable energy is the way forward, and that is a fact recognized by almost all nations across the globe. While most countries have taken steps to begin implementing renewable energy sources on a small scale, Japan has been gearing up to reduce the entire continent's dependency on current, non-sustainable energy solutions.

Japan is set to expedite the process of making its Asia Super Grid (ASG) initiative, proposed over a decade ago, a reality. This initiative aims to link electric power systems across Asia, and facilitate the exchange of natural renewable resources.

To say that the 36,000km-integrated renewable energy grid will benefit all nations involved would be stating the obvious. This de-carbonization project promises to propel our collective efforts to adopt sustainable energy sources across the globe.

The ASG is, additionally, an extremely encouraging course of action for Bangladesh in particular, as it will allow us to have access to cheaper electricity, produced naturally on large, overseas plants.

This could not have come at a better time.

As we dabble with the risks of a massive, nationwide energy crisis that could cause irreparable damage to the economy, a long-term, sustainable solution as such could arm us with the tools needed to tackle any impending disasters.

We need to take this seriously, and cooperate sincerely with other nations working on adopting renewable energy sources. The energy crisis is a global crisis just waiting to happen, and there is no alternative to joining hands with other countries.

The sooner we take necessary measures, the better prepared we will be to avoid a major catastrophe.
