A village transformed

The triumphant story of Jessore’s Basotpur Colony is one we can all take joy in.

Once one of the impoverished villages of the country, it now boasts a healthy economy, all thanks to the various migrant workers who work all over the world to support the community.

What is even more inspiring is that most of these workers were women, fighting against the odds to provide for their families.

What once was a decrepit village inundated with floods, now stands as a shining example of the Bangladeshi people and their unwavering resilience.

This should serve to remind us that not only are we developing and progressing as a nation, but that women have a huge part to play in our economy.
