The empire that is Facebook

Facebook is a social media juggernaut that, let’s face it, won’t be dethroned by anyone in the near future. They’ve acquired and swallowed other social media platforms whole, as they expand their tech empire to battle the titans of the industry. The company was worth over $350 million at the end of 2016, and its value will rise higher as the years go on. So, reaching the likes of Google (worth nearly $500 billion, similar to Apple) is very much a reality. In order to compete and retain their position on the highest of hills, they’ll have to invest in other platforms in creating innovative changes to the way we consume our daily use of technology.
You should also be aware of the fact we now live in the golden age of television. Networks and premium channels have upped their production value, rivalling those of an established movie studio. Facebook knows this very well. According to a report by Business Insider, the company is in the process of developing around 24 shows and are aiming to premier them in mid-June. They’ll also provide already popular shows like House of Cards and smaller five to 10-minute shows that can stream through Facebook’s video tab.
To take things further, the report also claims of a virtual reality dating show presented by publishers Condé Nast. A-list celebrities are also in talks of appearing in some of the shows. In fact, a very popular celebrity has already signed on the dotted line. Zuckerberg was heard saying he desired episodic content for users on Facebook. The launch of the TV features on Facebook doesn’t have a set date. It can also be pushed back further than it already has. With the recent acquisitions of successful companies, it shouldn’t be a big surprise if they soon announce the launch date of TV access on its app.
