Eid ul Adha, as far as entertaining goes, is all about the meat dishes. You want to finish off your meal on a sweet note, and if you’re tired of the firni-shemai extravaganza, here are two delicious desserts to try wowing your guests with.
Queen of puddings
Ingredients
4tbs butter
Lime zest from 2 limes
1/4cup sugar
3cup milk
6slice bread
2 eggs
1tbs lime juice
3tbs strawberry jam
2tbs caster sugar
Method
1.Preheat oven to 180C
2.Place butter in a medium bowl add lime zest and sugar whisk until creamy. Set aside
3.Heat milk with bread and stir and allow the bread to soak in the milk
4.Pour milk and bread into reserved batter mixture. Add egg yolks and pour this mixture into a buttered baking dish
5.Bake this for 30 minutes or until set
6.Using a spatula, spread jam evenly across the top of the pudding
7. In a large bowl whip egg whites ,add caster sugar and continue to beat to soft peaks
8.Spread whipped meringue on to the layer of jam and across the top.
9.Place baking dish in the preheated oven and continue baking till the meringue peaks are golden brown (between 5 to 10 minutes). Remove from oven and serve hot.
Oat chocolate bar
Ingredients
Oats flour 1cup
Egg 1
Cocoa powder half cup
Baking powder 2tsp
Pinch of salt
Banana mashed 2
Honey 2tbs
Cooking oil 2tbs
Milk powder 2tbs
Method
1.Preheat oven 180°c
2.In a bowl, use a fork to mash banana. Add oil, honey, egg and whisk. Add oats flour, salt, baking powder, cocoa powder and whisk.
3.Grease the baking tray with butter and pour the batter into that tray.
4.Bake this for 25-30 minutes or until set.
