Teatulia Organic Teas holds cycling race in London

On March 21, the leading colleges of London came together to compete in the inaugural Teatulia Intervarsity Cycling Race. Organized by Teatulia Organic Teas, the global tea brand of Kazi & Kazi Tea, the race was held at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit. Riders had the opportunity to compete in three different events across the afternoon – an individual time-trial, team time-trial and criterion. The Teatulia Intervarsity Cycling Race, which is the first of its kind, gave amateur cyclists, as well as more experienced students, a chance to compete with peers from other universities and challenge their own limits. Teams from London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London, King's College, Imperial College, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, St. George's University and Brunel University competed at the cycling race. University College London were the overall winners, with special mention given to the women’s team time trial pair. Teatulia, who sponsors the LSE Cycling Club in addition to funding the race, has long been committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle. Working with athletes and endurance sportsmen and women, Teatulia has developed a range of ‘Energy Teas’, which are healthy alternatives to energy drinks. “The huge success of the race and the tremendous enthusiasm it has been met with goes to show that there is certainly an appetite for future cycling events. We are now looking forward to next year, where we hope to expand to include many more universities from across the UK," a Teatulia spokesperson noted.

The Teatulia Cooperative, or Kazi Shahid Foundation (KSF), initially started out as a dairy cooperative in order to support Bangladesh’s first and only organic tea garden, Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate Limited, also known as the Teatulia Tea Garden. Located in the very northern tip of Bangladesh, the garden was founded in the year 2000 by Kazi Shahid Ahmed, Chairman of the Gemcon Group with the goal of improving lives in this remote and neglected region through enterprise. Teatulia sources its teas and herbs directly from its own USDA-certified organic garden in Northern Bangladesh, Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate Limited (KKTE), and other like-minded gardens. The tea is cultivated using only natural farming methods, and garden-direct sourcing means that the tea doesn’t sit in long-term warehouse storage or wait around to be blended by a third party. Teatulia’s farming cooperative, the Kazi Shahid Foundation (KSF), has created innovative education, health, and cattle-lending programs for the people working in the garden and surrounding areas. All sales of Teatulia Organic Teas contribute to making lives of men, women and children in the community better, while rebuilding the local ecosystem. Today, KSF provides innovative education, health, and cattle-lending programs that provide a bright future for thousands of Bangladeshi families.
