Getting the right fabrics in the right shades apt for summer is only half the job. Here's how you can rectify the accessorising situation and amp up the hot-weather look this year.

If you are tired of the entire earrings-necklace-bracelet ordeal with matching brooches and anklets, it's time to break out of the rut and just add one or two statement pieces at a time. For example, a pair of stone embellished makris and an exquisite band around your ring finger made out of blue gemstones to go with a polychromatic fatua or salwar kameez to keep things sweet and simple.

If you are looking to go for a minimalistic approach without compromising your panache, now is the time to move away from that chaotic monotony in fashion. A white cotton sari with pastel borders and a pair of orange garnets around the ears could make a killer duo. A multicoloured beaded neckpiece, whether a long one or a choker, is optional.

Cotton or khadi is our fabric of choice this season. But assuming you won't be rocking a sari in summer unless it's to leave your footprints at a party, we suggest you take the detour and tweak the draping. How about making a halter neck by tying the hems together around the neck and wear the sari around your waist like a carelessly flared skirt? Some dangly teardrops and a statement ring would be the cherry on top on this one.
