Pohela Boishakh has, in recent years, evolved from a harvest-based festival steeped in tradition to an urbane celebration of art, colour and culture. Alongside the classic white and red palette comes a vibrant medley of mela-inspired colours speaking to a spirit that is at once breezily cosmopolitan and yet rooted in Bangaliana.

The latest offerings by 6 Yards Story reflect on this new sensibility. Quirky and artistic, the pieces can add a touch of whimsy to a traditional outfit, or slot in perfectly with contemporary fusion wear.
Fashion trends are shifting towards tribal, ethnic and unique silver jewellery designs. Silver jewellery with ethnic designs and pearls is a big trend this season. The basic idea of 6 Yards Story is to promote traditional handmade jewellery to create a statement in the fashion industry. The online jewellery store is the brain child of Lora Khan and her husband Ferdous Uddin Ahmad.
"For an online jewellery store, authenticity and uniqueness are important elements. When designing one of our pieces, we usually follow our instincts and the rest is up to our wonderful clients,” says Lora. Lora is an architect, who has mixed her own style and imagination in every one of her designs . Her marketing strategy is unique like her designs, which enabled 6 Yards Story to come this far.
6 Yards Story takes orders from their clients online. It takes one or two weeks on an average, depending on the designs and products. They take orders for specially crafted jewellery for weddings as well.
