AB Bank, in association with Chandrabati Foundation, has accorded a reception to Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman on Monday for receiving the Padmabhushan, third highest civilian award of India on its 65th republic day.
The reception programme was held at hotel Rupashi Bangla at 4:30pm on Monday. He was honoured with flowers, uttario, memorandum and his portrait in the program.
While addressing the reception, the speakers said the award was “an honour for the nation” adding that would be an inspiration for the nation in future.
The speaker further said secularism and progressive ideals that he has adopted at the core of his life, undertook various responsibilities to the society besides the profession of teaching throughout his life.
“He emerged as the light-bearer for the nation in different crisis moments with His writings and activities devoted to establish the democracy and a humane society. For all his works and contribution bore him recognition and honour for him as well as the nation.”
This year, India has awarded 22 Indian, three foreign individuals with the award.
