The Bangladeshi-born Indian artist, Jogen Chowdhury visited his ancestral home at Kotalipara in Faridpur on Monday after 21 years.
According to sources, the artist recalled his memories of childhood and became emotional. He used to draw pictures sitting beside Satar Kata Dighi.
Jogen said: “The natural environment of the village has changed. There is no existence of family temple or establishment.”
He added only the pond, Boro Dighi and bamboo clusters remained unchanged.
“I am satisfied after coming back to my mother land,” he said.
The Kali O Kolom Editor Abul Hasnat, photographer Nasir Ali Mamun, Indian artists and critic Arun Ghosh and journalist from India Sunil Josman also came to the upazila with Jogen.
Principal of Kotalipara Sheikh Lutfur Rahman College and brother of Jogen welcomed him with floral wreath.
Jogen visited the ancestral house of poet Sukanta Bhattacharya in Unshia village and Kotalipara Kendrio Kalibari.
He talked to the locals during the visit.
Jogen was born on February 17 , 1939. His father is Promoth Chowdhury. He went to Kolkata at the age of 9 in 1948.He studied Art in India and served as an international Indian art professor.
He said: “This is the second time I am visiting my motherland after 21 years. I will visit my country whenever I get to manage time.”
