Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 hits theatres on September 27th

The second official clip from “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” shows just what has become of Swallow Falls since the conclusion of the 2009 film, wearing a Jurassic Park-ish influence right on its sleeve.

In the hyperkinetic adaptation of Judi and Ron Barrett’s children’s book, Flint Lockwood’s FLDSMDFR device turned water into food, but when it ran amok, weather events turned into destructive storms of food raining down on Flint’s island hometown.

The sequel picks up right where the first movie left off. With the FLDSMDFR seemingly deactivated Flint goes to work for his inventor idol at a tech company in San Franjose, where his fellow Swallow Falls inhabitants have been relocated. When it’s discovered that the machine is still running, Flint must travel back home to Swallow Falls to stop the FLDSMDFR’s food-animals hybrids from crossing the oceans and invading human civilization.

Earlier this week, the first clip from “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” found Lockwood and Sam Sparks racing around San Franjose to recruit their old compatriots Officer Devereux and Steve.

This one shows what they find when they get there: foodimals aplenty.

Bill Hader commented, “There’s definitely the Jurassic Park element to it. The first movie’s a lot like “Armageddon” to me, like a disaster movie, and this one is a lot like “Jurassic Park.” or the being-chased-in-the-jungle-by-monsters genre.”

In addition to Hader, the sequel boasts familiar “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” voices Anna Faris, Benjamin Bratt, Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Samberg, and James Caan, along with Terry Crews, Kristen Schaal, and Will Forte, who voiced an entirely different character in the first movie.
