Colours Photography’ exhibition on at Drik Gallery

A unique and eye catching exhibition of works of novice photographers is going on at Drik Gallery. The show titled “Colours Photography” is organised by Independent Photographers, a photographers’ group.

The exhibit with the tag line “a single photo can be better than thousand words,” is put together for the benefit of young and talented individuals, gifted with capturing the unusual with the help of a lens. Shahadat Parvez, Sudeepto Salam and Kudrat E Khoda are in the selection board of the exhibition.

An extensive array of photographs displays the inner creativity of brilliant young minds in black and white to vibrant colours. The aim of this display is to provide a platform for this neglected group to showcase their talent to the audience of the country.

Dhaka Tribune caught up with Zaki Ameen, a participant of the exhibit to learn about the initiative: “I came across this competition in Facebook and decided to give it a go. The organisers have selected the participants via social networking sites and finally selected 48 photos of 38 photographers to display at the exhibitions.

The subjects of the photos vary from unusual portraits, landscapes, lifestyles, wild life to conceptual. It is a very versatile show that offers a wide range of different photographs for onlookers to appreciate. We, the neglected photographers are grateful for this kind of opportunity. This initiative is a hand extended towards giving us a boost and an opportunity for showing the world our talent.”

The exhibition ends today at 8pm.
