Munier Chowdhury Theatre Festival ends on Saturday at BSA

A theatre festival paying tribute to martyr intellectual and playwright Munier Chowdhury theatre festival will end on Saturday with the staging of two of his landmark plays. The festival is organised by the department of theatre and film, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Chittagong University’s “Rupar Kouta” directed by Shakila Tasnim will be staged on Saturday at 7pm and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s production “Putra” which is directed by Mohammad Jasim Uddin will be staged consecutively at 8pm at the Studio Theatre Hall of the academy.

The inaugural programme has been followed by the staging of “Kabor” by the students of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University at 7pm. Munier Chowdhury’s “Kabor” is based on the Language Movement in 1952 which is directed by Syed Mamun Reza.

Next, Munier Chowdhury’s “Marmantik”directed by Arif Haidar has been staged by the students of Rajshahi University at 8pm.

The festival was inaugurated by poet-playwright Syed Shamsul Haq. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general

of BSA, presided over the ceremony.
