To celebrate the “International Bangla Festival and Bookfair,” New York Astoria’s “Muktodhara Foundation” organised a three day long solo photography exhibition on Bangladeshi flowers titled “Bangladesher Phul” by Mokaram Hossain. This is the first solo exhibition of the photographer.
A number of twenty five photographs of Bangladeshi flowers have been showcased at the exhibition. Visitors were impressed by the display of the beautiful element of nature. Bangladesh has a huge variety of beautiful flowers and the photographer has done an excellent job in capturing the vibrant beauty of, one of the most attractive aspect present in nature. His has captured the very essence of a flower skillfully through his lens.
Mokaram Hossain shares his feelings about his photographs: “We are torn from this unique gift of nature due to the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. We are then left with the option of watching them on TV or satisfying ourselves by looking at flowers in a book. We get nostalgic to recall that these flowers once grew around our homestead and their fragrance filled the morning air. Our existence is proudly attached to these beautiful elements of nature. No matter where a Bengali lives, he will be moved by a tiny wild flower of his homeland. The mere 25 photographs will hopefully fulfill this longing and will transport us to our memory of home.”
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Bangladeshi representative to the UN AKM Abdul Momen, poet Nirmolendu Gun, and novelist Anisul Haque. Representative of “Muktodhara,” Biswajit Shaha and New York’s journalists attended the opening ceremony.
