AB bank's two day-long National Butthan Competition 2015 ended on the 26th of December at Sathkhira Stadium, in Sathkhira District. The National Competition concluded with prize distribution and a colorful closing ceremony.
The word Butthan is a Sanskrit word meaning upliftment or defense with distinction. Butthan is a system of self defense and personal development with South Asian heritage. It is also a combat sport, being practiced in different parts of the world under International Butthan Federation, USA. Butthan was included as a form of sports by the National Sports Council (NSC), Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bangladesh in 2013.
Butthan practitioners from 32 districts participated in this two day-long competition. 167 participants, eight amperes and three referees, with 10 officials carried out the National Butthan Competition. It was held in five different weight divisions. The programme encompasses free hand combat events, along with Butthan weapons forms and lathi khela. Chief instructor from the Sathkhira district branch, Kazi Ruhul Islam (fourth degree black belt), read out a written speech from the desk of BBUF president Sayed Shaeed Reza (retired ambassador) at the beginning of the event.
The superhuman, as seen on the Discovery Channel, world record holder and internationally recognised Grand Master, Dr Yuree Vajramunee was also attending the national competition.
The concluding ceremony of the national competition inaugurated with a colourful rally across the Sathkhira city and Butthan physical demonstration. Parliament member from Satkhira Sadar constituency, freedom fighter Mostak Ahmed Roby was present as the chief guest and administrator of Satkhira Zila. Rarisad Monsur Ahmed was present as the special guest of the concluding session of Butthan National Competition 2015
