Daffodil International University Debating Club (DIUDC) became the runner up at the 7th Palli Kabi Inter Club Debate Championship 2015, losing in the final round against debating club Haji Mohammad Muhsin Hall of Dhaka University yesterday. To mark the 20th founding anniversary of Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall Debate Club (KJHDC), the championship was held from from September 26-29, where 44 teams from 35 public and private universities took part.
Professor Dr A A M S Arefin Siddique, vice chancellor, University of Dhaka was the chief guest while A K Azad, former president of FBCCI was present as the special guest in the closing ceremony of the championship, distributing prizes among the winners. DIUDC team comprised of Omar Faruque Simanta of ESDM department as the team leader along with Mesbahuddin Hasib from the CSE department and Al Mukitul Bary from the EEE department.
Before reaching the final round, DIUDC had to make it through five segments and defeat five other university debate teams including Jahangirnagar University, Ekushey Hall, DU, Shamsun Nahar Hall, DU, Muhsin Hall, DU, Eden Girl’s College and United International University.
