Interlink Electronics (NASDAQ: LINK) stock is down 90%. This is a tremendous buying opportunity. No, really, we’re very sure of this. The only major problem that we really see with this advice is that it’s going to be near impossible to actually buy any Interlink Electronics stock at this bargain, low, price.
No, it doesn’t matter what Interlink does. As it happens it makes force sensors but that’s just not what the issue is. You can read more about all of that here. What matters is that someone has made a mistake. Well, we assume it’s a mistake, although some people do try, sometimes, to deliberately engineer these price movements.
So, here’s what one ticker is telling us about Interlink:
Here’s what another reporting site is telling us about Interlink Electronics:
So, that’s settled then, right? The price is down 90%?
Well, actually, yes it is. From the NASDAQ ticker itself:
Aaaah, so, we see the problem. That’s what is known (assuming this is not deliberate manipulation) as a “fat finger” mistake. They’ve input the wrong number of digits. Which is how we get a 90% price movement.
So, what do we do here? Laugh and carry on with the day?
Well, no. What we should be doing is trying to buy at this new and absurdly low price. Because there is no other news at all. So, the automated systems that generally run the market at this time of day think the price is 90% down. When the adults turn up and have a look after that first coffee that price is going to revert to something like it was last night. So, we should be trying to buy at 90 cents so that we can sell at 9 dollar and 90 cents (or thereabouts) in a couple of hours time.
Our only real problem here is that it’s unlikely that anyone will sell to us at this quoted price. But it’s definitely worth a try. If anyone’s stupid enough to sell us 100 shares at this price it would cost us $95 and make us a profit of some $900 before lunch.
Sadly, we think that the likely volume available to buy at this price is zero. But maybe someone will be able to get a few lots of 50 pieces, 100 pieces through and good luck if they can.
