The speakers in a programme claimed that Bangladesh has made an improvement in labour rights and safety in the ready-made garment sector.

The statement came from the inauguration programme of a three-day workshop for the newly appointed factory inspectors in the capital yesterday.

German Chargé d’Affaires Dr Ferdinand von Weyhe, who was present there, said: “We need to ensure workers’ safety by implementing a strict, transparent and efficient factory inspection system, to which my country will continue its support. In this regard, a clear signal will come from the follow-up meeting in Brussels.”
