Facebook, Instagram down in reported worldwide outage

Fecebook and Instagram users around the world reported widespread disruptions on Friday, with services from Meta appearing to be affected across multiple regions, reports CNET.

The issues impacted Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger, with users reporting difficulties accessing the platforms and core features.

Outage tracking site Downdetector recorded more than 100,000 reports of problems with Facebook around 10am ET on Friday, suggesting a large-scale disruption. CNET and Downdetector are both owned by parent company Ziff Davis.

CNET said it has contacted Meta for comment.
