There are many varieties of mangoes and the taste of each mango is also different depending on the variety. Among these are some varieties of mangoes that are unique in taste and cost a lot.

Let's know about some such varieties of mangoes-

Noorjahan

This famous Indian mango is named after Nur Jahan, the wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. These mangoes are quite large in shape. The weight of one is about 2-3kg. A mango of such size costs about Tk1,500 in Bangladeshi currency.

Kohitur

The origin of this mango is Murshidabad, India. The taste of this mango changes as it ripens on the tree. So, it is kept for one and a half to two days before ripening. This mango also grows quite large and costs almost the same as Noorjahan.

Sindhri

This type of mango is grown in the Sindh province of Pakistan. As big as this mango looks, it tastes very sweet. The price of each is about Tk4,000.

Manila

This mango from the Philippines has been named in the Guinness World Records as the sweetest mango variety. It is also known as “Carabao”. Each mango of this variety costs up to Tk3,500.

Alphonso

The mango variety is named after the Portuguese general Afonso de Albuquerque. This mango is mostly produced in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, India. There, this mango is also called as "Hapus". At present, this mango is also available in small quantities in Bangladesh. The price of each dozen of mangoes ranges from Tk3,000-7,000.

Hakugin no Taiyo

The Japanese name means "sun in the snow". This mango is produced in a greenhouse. The temperature should be kept at -8°C. The price of each is over Tk25,000.

Miyazaki

The colour of this Japanese mango is purple. Cultivation of this started recently in Bangladesh as well. In Bengali its called “Surjo Dim”. In the global market, the price of this mango per kg has gone up to Tk4 lakh.
