The president of Rangunia upazila Awami League and Rangunia upazila parishad chairman Alhaj Khalilur Rahman Chowdhury died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chittagong on Thursday.
He was 94. He left behind his wife, son, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Dr ATM Rezaul Karim, Managing Director of Park View Hospital, said that Khalilur Rahman breathed his last around 1:30 pm while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“He was suffering from kidney ailments for a long time. Besides, he had some old-age complications,” said Dr Karim.
Meanwhile, Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the veteran leader of the Awami League.
She prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed her sympathy to the bereaved family.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister ObaidulQuader also expressed his profound sorrow and shock at the death of Khalilur Rahman.
