Md Rakib-uj-Jaman, a professor of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department of Rajshahi University passed away on Monday night at the age of 64.
Professor Rakib suffered from a cardiac arrest seven months earlier and was suffering from various illnesses since, said professor Md Ibrahim Hossain Mandal, chairman of the department.
“On July 3, his health condition suddenly deteriorated and he died on the way to the hospital on Monday around 9pm,” said the professor.
The university authority said Rakib’s funeral prayer would be held at Rajshahi University’s Central Mosque after Zuhr prayers and then he will be buried at the university graveyard.
Professor Rakib joined the university in 1981 as a lecturer and used to live in Mirzapur area, nearby the university premises.
Meanwhile, his fellow faculty members of the Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department expressed their deep condolences at his untimely death.
