A fresh batch of 416 Bangladesh citizens has returned home from Saudi Arabia, where they were stranded due to the Covid-19 forced flight suspension.
The special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Riyadh landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 10:15pm on Wednesday.
Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
All the returnees held various jobs in the construction sector in Saudi Arabia and were sent into home quarantine after thermal screening at the airport, said an airport health official.
Earlier on June 21, 388 Bangladeshis returned to Dhaka from Saudi Arabia by a special chartered flight.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has so far facilitated the repatriation of stranded Bangladeshis from China, India, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Oman, and Turkey, including pilgrims, students, tourists, patients and their attendants, and businessmen.
The ministry said they are fully committed to working under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, particularly through the critical moments of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
