Dr Syed Tamijul Ahsan Ratan, owner of Ratan's Dental in the capital, has died with symptoms similar to those of Covid-19.
The noted dentist breathed his last undergoing treatment at the ICU of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital around 6:30am on Monday.
Confirming the matter, Sarder A Nayeem, founding chairman of the hospital, said that Dr Ratan had a fever since May 31 and was at home.
“After his condition deteriorated recently, he was taken to Dhaka’s Birdem General Hospital. Later, on Sunday, he was moved to our hospital.
“Dr Ratan was a suspected Covid-19 patient. His samples were collected on Sunday, but the report is yet to be delivered,” he added.
Dr Ratan, who established Ratan's Dental back in 1992, was a renowned dental surgeon of the country.
He was also a member of the American Dental Association, and a panel dental surgeon for the High Commission of India, Embassy of DPR Korea, and Biman Bangladesh.
He was also an enlisted dental Surgeon for UNDP and UNICEF.
