Rangpur district Awami League Organising Secretary, Towhidur Rahman Tutul, breathed his last at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Monday.
The 54 year old Awami League leader died of cardiac arrest, family sources said.
He left behind his wife, two daughters, and a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn his death.
Tutul was admitted to RMCH this morning from his Senpara residence, following a massive cardiac arrest. He breathed his last there at around 12 noon, said family members.
The news of his death cast a shadow of gloom and sorrow among AL political leaders and activists, and among other political parties of Rangpur city as well.
Tutul was a successful organiser, a former General Secretary of District Shilpakola Academy and Rangpur unit of Joybangla Sangskritik Gosthi, and Joint General Secretary of Rangpur Diabetic Samity, who was involved with many other organisations.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at the Rangpur Collectorate School and College grounds. Leaders and workers of AL and other political parties, socio-cultural activists, freedom fighters, business leaders and common people attended the janaza. He was buried at the Baro Nurpur Graveyard in the city.
