Awami League (AL) advisory council member and former LGRD state minister and MP Advocate Md Rahmat Ali has died in Dhaka at the age of 76.
He breathed his last around 7:30am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a hospital, family sources told BSS.
He had been suffering from prolonged kidney disease and diabetes.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid her tribute to Rahmat Ali at the South Plaza of the Parliament Building on Sunday afternoon, reports UNB.

She later spoke to family members of the deceased and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Earlier, a Namaz-e-Janaza of Ali was held at the South Plaza of the Parliament Building.
Ministers, deputy speaker, chief whip, whips, MPs and leaders of different political parties attended the Janaza.
A munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.
A state salute was also given to the valiant freedom fighter.
Ali, who was elected MP from Gazipur 3 constituency in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2008 and 2014 breathed his last at a city hospital at the age of 76.
He had been suffering from prolonged kidney disease and diabetes.
He left behind his wife, one daughter and two sons along with a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.
