Col Mia Mohammad Jahangir passes away

Col (retd) Mia Mohammad Jahangir of the Bangladesh Army has passed away at the age of 76. 

Suffering from blood cancer, the former army man breathed his last around 9am at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka, on Wednesday. 

Mia Mohammad Jahangir joined the then Pakistan Army in 1968. After the Liberation War, he worked at Brigade Headquarters, Army Headquarters, Log Area, Artillery Centre & School of Bangladesh Army, and the BGB Sector Office command in various capacities.

Born in Barisal to late Altaf Uddin Ahmed and late Zebunnesa Begum, Jahangir leaves behind his wife, children, and grandchildren.

His siblings are Md Shahabuddin Ahmed, former deputy chief of Tourism and Civil Aviation Authority, Dr Md Harunur Rashid, former secretary of Bangladesh government, Md Mahbub Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, former Superintendent of Police of Dhaka district, and Nasim Ahmed, a businessman.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held on Thursday after Zohr prayers at the Mohakhali DOHS mosque. He will be buried at the Military Graveyard in Banani. 

A doa mahfil will be held on Saturday at the Mohakhali DOHS mosque, seeking peace for the departed soul.
