Acclaimed Bangladeshi actor Jaya Ahsan’s upcoming periodic drama titled “Ek Je Chhilo Raja” has released a new track titled “Maharajo” on Saturday. The Rabindranath Tagore song was sung by Sahana Bajpaie while its video showed Maharaja Mahendra Kumar Choudhury, played by Jisshu U Sengupta, returning to his palace as a holy man and his sister, played by Jaya, welcoming his supposedly dead brother.
Like the film’s official trailer, released in September 10, this newly released video has also created a buzz among the audience of both West Bengal and Bangladesh.
Both the trailer and the new track was released on the official YouTube channel of SVF (Shree Venkatesh Films), the production company of the film.
The film written and directed by Srijit Mukherji is based on the Bhawal (current Gazipur division of independent Bangladesh) case of 1921.
The story is about a 16-year-long court case of the mysterious return of Ramendra Narayan Ray 12 years after his supposed death. Ray was the second prince of the Bhawal estate and had been declared dead in 1909. In 1921, a holy man resembling the dead prince arrived at the estate, sparking off rumours that the prince had indeed returned.
“Ek Je Chhilo Raja,” based on a true story documented by Partha Bhattacharjee, is slated for an Indian release on October 12 marking the upcoming Durga Puja.
