The committee issued a press statement in this regard on Thursday, calling for submission by September 20.
The statement, signed by Rabin Shams, media coordinator at the 91st Oscar Bangladesh Committee, said: “The Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) has formed a committee of nine members where renowned film personality Habibur Rahman Khan has been designated as the chairman. The committee will be in charge of selecting a Bangladeshi film to contend in the Best Foreign Film category at the Academy Awards.”
To be eligible for the selection process, the films must be released after October 1, 2017, have English subtitles, and screened for at least a week in theatres.
Interested film producers are requested to complete formalities and submit their films atthe committee’s office in New Eskaton, Dhaka by 5pm on September 20.
The 91st Academy Awards will be held on February 24, 2019 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, US.
