Disney has shared the first image of live-action version of “Mulan.” In the photo the warrior princess is seen in fighter mode with a large sword in her hand.
Following the success of other live-action Disney movies, the studio decided to give the 1998 animated film a live-action remake.
Liu Yifei has been cast as the legendary warrior. Casting directors auditioned 1,000 actors across five continents for the role of Mulan.

The cast also includes martial arts star Jet Li as the Chinese emperor, and Yoson An as Chen Honghui. Chinese-Vietnamese star Xana Tang is playing Mulan's sister, a new addition to the story.
The live-action Mulan will follow the same plot as the 1998 animated musical but in the previous movie the villain was the leader of the Huns, Shan Yu- while the remake includes a female villain who is a powerful witch. There has already been controversy around the plot twist.
Production of Mulan has begun in different locations of New Zealand and China. The movie is being directed by Niki Caro.
The film will be released on March 27, 2020 in the US.
