DUFS, UNHCR to organize ’Shortfilm on Refugee’

The Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) has announced a new segment titled “Shortfilm on Refugee,” in the 10th edition of one of their biggest annual events, the International Inter-University Short Film Festival 2018 (IIUSFF), in association with UNHCR.

Young film-makers can submit refugee related short documentaries, short films (fiction), interviews, and panoramas in this category.

According to UNHCR, all “forcibly displaced communities and stateless people are refugees. Violence is committed over them based on their ethnic identity, nationality, political beliefs, race, religion, and more.”

The best film submitted to this sub category will win prize money of 300 USD and the runner-up film will receive 200 USD.

Participants can submit their films till August 5, 2018, through the DUFS website.

The films related to refugee crises which are already submitted to the festival will automatically compete for this sub-category.

The IIUSFF was introduced in 2007 with the goal of providing a platform for young and talented film-makers in Bangladesh and overseas to showcase their talent. Over the years, it has succeeded in creating a name of its own and to work as a cross-cultural platform to portray the different styles and dimensions of young university-going film-makers throughout the world.
