Katrina Kaif replaces Priyanka Chopra in Salman Khan-starrer ‘Bharat’

Katrina Kaif has replaced Priyanka Chopra in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Salman Khan-starrer “Bharat,” Mumbai Mirror reported. “I am extremely excited to work with Katrina and Salman again,” Zafar told the newspaper.

Zafar has previously directed Kaif in “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” (2011) and “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017). The latter production, also starring Khan, is one of the biggest hits in the actor’s career.

“Bharat” was supposed to have been Priyanka Chopra’s comeback to Hindi cinema after her stint in Hollywood. She walked out of the project last week, allegedly because of her reported engagement to Nick Jonas, the American singer.

Scripted by Zafar and Varun V Sharma, “Bharat” is the official remake of the South Korean film “Ode to My Father” (2014) and revolves around India’s history as seen through the life of one man. “Bharat” is scheduled to be released during the Eid weekend in 2019. The cast also includes Disha Patani, Tabu, Sunil Grover and Kumud Mishra.
