Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and Lighting division of Wipro Limited, in association with Haque Group of Industries have launched Santoor soap, the iconic Indian sandal and turmeric soap brand in Bangladesh market. The launch encompasses introduction of new packaging, new shape and improved formulation to provide everlasting natural beauty.
At the launching event, Priyadarshi Ranjan, Head of SAARC, Wipro Consumer Care said, “We have retained the original goodness of Santoor and enhanced the offering by introducing new fragrance, formulation and carton packaging. With the new Santoor, we seek to strengthen our presence in Bangladesh market and grow by appealing to the consumers in Bangladesh.”
Bangladesh being a country with strong economic growth and macroeconomic stability, WCCLG has a long term vision of investing in Bangladesh. In line with this vision, WCCLG has established a local branch office and has tied up with local partner M/S Haque Group for manufacturing and distribution of Santoor soap.
Expressing joy and great satisfaction over this collaboration with WCCLG, Adam Haque, managing director of Haque Group said, “I am very excited for this new collaboration with Wipro Consumer care. As you have seen Wipro is one of the large FMCG companies in India and is planning to extend their foot prints in Bangladesh as well. This collaboration with Wipro will benefit mutually. There would be information and knowledge sharing at various levels, more specifically on sales front and I am sure both the parties involved would be greatly benefited though this collaboration. The collaboration is at multi-departmental levels where value addition comes from Haque’s team right through the entire value chain starting from production till distribution. I personally see huge potential in this brand in Bangladesh. We should treat this as our own brand and therefore should try to contribute towards making it successful in Bangladesh.”
Santoor is present through its trade partners in Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar and is now entering Bangladesh through collaboration with Haque Group of Industries. Their focus on providing the right value to the customer has contributed significantly to the brand’s success across the countries.
The challenge this time was to understand and make necessary changes in the product mix without diluting the core of the brand in response to the local market needs. After several months of consumer work, Santoor decided to make certain changes in the product mix which is much more in line with local tastes and preferences. Consumers can now experience the goodness of sandal and turmeric in the new Santoor soap.
