Kaiser Haq's “The Final Frontier”, Abeer Hoque's “Love in the Time of Composting” and Saad Z Hossain's “The Last CEO” were screened at Bangla Academy's V Novera Hall on Saturday, the third day of Dhaka Lit Fest.
These three films were made as part of Everything Change, an online series exploring how creativity and adaptive thinking might help overcome the challenges of the climate and ecological crises.
“The Final Frontier” is a famous poem by poet Kaiser Haq.
In this poem, he talked about the give-and-take of West and East, as well as about environmentalism and social identity.
He expressed optimism about the future of Bangladesh, which lacks enough spotlight.
The audience welcomed his recitation with applause.
Saad Z Hossain's “The Last CEO”, an animation film, showed a fictionalized picture of the world in 2057. The audience felt how anarchy can become relevant in an unknown future. How people are caught in the trap of development and money- this short film reflected on that.
Finally, Abeer Hoque's “Love in the Time of Composting,” told the love story of two Bangladeshi Americans who believe in retrograde political ideals and social relations.
Basically, their daily life has been beautifully presented in this film by changing the dialogue and background in the style of drama.
The session which started at 11:15am was packed to the brim.
The audience enjoyed every screening.
Dhaka Lit Fest 2023, Bangladesh's biggest event on world literature and culture, began on Thursday with around 500 writers, poets, performers, intellectuals, journalists and internationally acclaimed prize-winning speakers taking part in over 170 sessions over four days.
This is the 10th edition of the fest. The fest is taking place after a three-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
